GGL USA is in search of a dynamic and enterprising of Operations Manager – USA. This is an exciting role with a comprehensive set of responsibilities that include full P & L Ownership, Supplier Management and Business Process execution. 

  • This is a fully remote position.
  •   Preference is for the candidate with Freight Forwarding Experience
  •   Preference is for the candidate to be domiciled in Chicago.
  •   Expect to travel 15 to 25% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • The role entails complete responsibility for all the ocean products.
  • Products include Export & Import / LCL & FCL.
  • Build strong relationships with Ocean Carriers and Dray Providers.
  • Build Strong Relationships with Key Customers.
  • Have complete responsibility of the P & L for each BU.
  • Negotiate and onboard new contracts with Ocean Carriers and Dray Providers.
  • Responsible for nurturing relationships and ensuring deliverables are met for Key Accounts.
  • Improve on current Business Processes.
  • The job entails mapping and optimizing usage of the existing Back Office set up.
  • Collaborate with Key internal stakeholders for all client deliverables & KPIs.
  • Maximizing the Network strength and helping build a strong reputation for the GGL brand.
  • Assist with timely and accurate solutions to clients for long-term growth.
  • Meet all internal Target KPIs set quarterly and annually by GGL.
  • Planning and presenting reports on the progress for each BU.
  • This list may have additional responsibilities that may occur from time to time as determined by Line Management.

 

 

 

Qualifications

  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
  • Goal-oriented and process driven.
  • Complete understanding of Financial, Process and Operational requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of FCL & LCL. Knowledge of Domestic Dray Market.
  • Additional Air Freight knowledge would be a plus.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills.
  • In-depth understanding of the market dynamics to and from Asia.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or Logistics or relevant field.
  • Five to Eight years of previous work experience in freight forwarding operations, with at least three years in a management role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to work with different Suppliers.
  • Proven results of delivering solutions and meeting company-defined goals.
